About us

Who We Are

TLC – the church has and will continue to provide a place where anyone attending can receive the Tender Loving Care of a Saviour that they need in today’s busy world.

We are a church family in Bristol and we want to help you become the person God made you to be. No matter where you are in your Faith journey, you’re invited to discover your purpose and live it out at TLC Church.

TLC was established in November 2022 when it was clear that some were searching to find a church home in which they could relax and worship God amongst friends.

Our first meetings were established simply as a time for people to meet, share a meal around a table and be in a comfortable environment with each other.

Our first meeting saw 25 people gather. Others soon started seeking us out, and as the number grew, we rented a local church hall to accommodate our growing numbers. By Christmas, we filled the hall with those who wanted to worship the King, for people to meet, share communion and share a meal.

Before long we called ourselves ‘The Lunch Club’, and as our numbers increased the community of believers grew into a fellowship where the love of God healed and restored our lives.

The name remains, now to mean ‘Tender Loving Care’.  It is what God has done and is doing amongst us.  He is restoring lives through His Tender Loving Care.  You are welcome to continue this fellowship with those who meet with us regularly.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs guide and inspire our mission to lead people to become followers of Christ. Here’s what we believe as a church.

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is divinely inspired, without error, uniquely authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives.

– 2 Timothy 3: 16-17

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things, existing eternally in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

– Ephesians 4: 4-6

– Matthew 28:19

We believe that sin (falling short of God’s standard in action, thought, and character) has separated each of us from God.

– Romans 3: 23-25

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both fully God and fully man, is the Saviour of mankind and the only One who can reconcile us to God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, was resurrected, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

– 1 Peter 1: 18-19

– Luke 4:18

– Mark 16:19

We believe in the personal salvation of believers at the moment of repentance.  Salvation is only by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

– Ephesians 2: 8-9

– Luke 15:7

We believe in the commemoration of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ by taking the Lord’s Supper, which we do together in remembrance of Him.

– Matthew 26: 26-29

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer, and the ‘breaking of bread’.

– Hebrews 10: 24- 25

We believe that water baptism is necessary for all believers and is confirmation of the believer’s death to their old life and their resurrection as a new creation in Christ.

– Matthew 28:19

– Colossians 2:12

– Acts 2:38-39

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the primary evidence of speaking in tongues.  We believe the Holy Spirit equips us for Christian life through spiritual fruit and with spiritual gifts.  He is the life and power of God within us on a daily basis.

– Acts 2:2-4

– Acts 19:6

– Galatians 5:22-23

– Isaiah 11:2

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively.

– Isaiah 53:5

– 1 Peter 2:24

– 2 Corinthians 9:8

– John 10:10

We believe that God has commissioned us His Church to shine as a light in our community and that it is the responsibility of all followers of Jesus Christ to preach the Good News and to make disciples of all nations.

– Matthew 28:18-20

We believe in the resurrection of everyone. We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

– John 3:16

– John 14:6

– Acts 24:15

– Matthew 25:41

– Mark 9:43-48

– Hebrews 9:27

We believe in the visible and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ as He promised.

– 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

– Matthew 24:30
